Kaleidoscope is the first project of its kind on such a scale in the UK. It exists to provide services for local children and young people whose health, education or social needs are special. Children First Lewisham has played an important role in supporting this development.
Kaleidoscope is the newly built, award winning children’s centre in Rushey Green, Lewisham that enables paediatricians, therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, health visitors, social workers, nurses and educators to work together to provide the individual support each child or young person should have.
Kaleidoscope brings together specialist community services for health, disability, mental health, education and social care - all working closely with the Voluntary Sector.
The vision is the result of a partnership between Lewisam Primary Care Trust (NHS) now Lewisham Healthcare, Lewisham Borough’s Directorate of Children & Young People and the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust - go to Links
Children like Israel used to have to make many visits to several centres to receive support from a range of Lewisham children’s services. Since November 2006, he and many other Lewisham children, can visit just one centre where their care is much better coordinated - Kaleidoscope, Lewisham Centre for Children and Young People.
